During the final day of the Chuunin Exam where the batch of Naruto participated, Orochimaru along with the Sand Village attacked the Konoha Village and tried to fall down the Village by Killing the Third Hokage and using the Shukaku Jinchuuriki.

The Sound Village of Orochimaru and the Sand Village of the Wind Country failed because Orochimaru was defeated by the Third Hokage although the battle led to the death of the Third Hokage.
