Uchiha Madara, The True Akatsuki Leader
Uchiha Madara was the first Sharingan user to activate Mangekyu Sharingan. The secret of activating this kind of jutsu was to kill his best friend. And that was what Uchiha Itachi did upon learning the secret of the Mangekyu Sharingan.
He was mentioned on the early Naruto series and is also mentioned by the Kyuubi on the first episode of the Naruto Shippuuden.
Now, why do I am thinking that the leader of the Akatsuki is Uchiha Madara?
Well, just think of it. There was no news whether Uchiha Madara was already dead or not. What was revealed on the old Naruto anime series is that Madara?s secret on the Mangekyu Sharingan was used by Itachi in obtaining his own Mangekyu. And since the way they obtain power was a crime under the Konoha Laws, then Madara probably left the Konoha and form his own group. That was what actually happened to Itachi.
Consider this pronouncement of the real leader of Akatsuki:

I still don’t understand why Madara-sama wants the Akatsuki people to capture jinchuuriki. As powerful as he is, what use has he for them?
leader of the akatsuki is the fourth hokage, tobi was just passed down the sharigan like kakashi was by his teammate, the death seal kills the person who uses it but the 4th hokage didn’t put it in himself so he could die, instead he put it in naruto who wasw still connected to is umbilical cord

Madara is the founder of the clan, so he wasn’t just the first mangekyou user, he was the first ever to have sharingan.

Death-Scythe.. I suppose thats an okay story but you need to actually watch the show before you say stuff like that. Minato didn’t run away from Konoha after sealing the demon fox inside naruto because using the sealing jutsu he had to sacrifice himself. You see that in the episode where it’s Sarutobi vs Orochimaru where Orochimaru stabs Sarutobi and Sarutobi says he was going to die anyway because of the sealing jutsu he used because he needed to sacrifice himself. And that thing with Sarutobi ordering Minato to seal the fox away doesn’t make sense, Minato was the Hokage who succeeded Sarutobi, why would he still take orders from him? And with the thing with Naruto using the 9th tail, that’s impossible because it would be such an overflow of chakra that Naruto would die. Yeah that’s all I have to say

just want to clarify the thought Minato succeeded Sarutobi. Minato did not succeeded Sarutobi. The reason why he’s the 4th, he saved konoha from the demon fox. That’s why in honor to what he did, they named him the 4th hokage of konoha. actually ‘exiled shinobi’ minato did succeed sarutobi because:
-they talk about when choosing the new hokage sarutobi chose minato over orochimaru
-in the first episode when the demon fox appears the shinobi of the leaf village say “wait until; the 4th hokage gets here” referring to minato
AND
-they say that after minato died sarutobi had to come out of retirement meaning that he retired after naming a new hokage.

No, its not known as yet.. The Rinnegan however is not mentioned to give him superior eyesight, but the ability to master all elements, and not just one or two..
I am not certain, but if i recall correctly, Sasukes Mangekyo becomes active after he kills Orochimaru and “takes his soul” thingy..

Hyuuga clan is one of the oldest clans in Konoha. They have been there ever since the establishment of the hidden village. Many years ago there was a girl from Hyuuga clan who fell in love with an outsider. She decided to marry herself to the young man despite the strong protests from her own clan. But this man was no ordinary human. In fact, this man was not a human at all. His name was Sojobo. He was the King of Tengu.
There are two types of tengus, Karasu tengu (a crow-like creature with beak and wings) and Konoha tengu (also known as Yamabushi tengu). Sojobo was a Konoha tengu. He had long nose and white hair with a pair of black wings on his back. As the King of Tengu, Sojobo possessed some very mystical powers. He carried a fan made of Fatsia leaf that could create a storm (therefore people sometimes call this type of leaf as Tengu no Uchiwa or Tengu’s fan). He could teleport himself or any other things from one place to another. He could also communicate with people telepathically or even invade their minds and drive them to madness. Besides, Sojobo was also known for his shapeshifting ability. He sometimes transformed himself into human to interact with people.
Anyway, this girl from Hyuuga was in love with Sojobo taking the human form without knowing his true identity. She married him shortly after they met each other. A year or two later, she was pregnant and gave birth to their first son. Sojobo named this son Uchiha, Uchiha Madara, after Uchiwa which means fan. And of course as we know, fan also later became the symbol of this new clan.
Everything was good. Uchiha Madara soon grew up to become a very powerful shinobi. He not only inherited the Kekkei Genkai from his mother but with the Tengu blood inside him the Byakugan had evolved into an even more dreadful form—the Sharingan! This new bloodline had 2 levels: Normal Sharingan and Mangekyou Sharingan. Like his tengu father, Madara possessed some incredible magical powers. He was able to use telepathy to invade people’s minds, or even teleport himself across a short distance. When he turned on the Mangekyou Sharingan (he had the normal Sharingan on 24/7 just like his Hyuuga kin), the eyes would further intensify his powers and bring him even closer to a tengu form. He had developed 3 jutsus under this state, namely Tsukiyomi (to control people’s minds and drive them insane), Amaterasu (to teleport objects into another dimension)* and Susanoo (to create a storm like that created by a Tengu’s fan).
Because of his bravery and almost unparalleled powers, Madara soon became a hero in his people’s eyes despite his young age. He became very close friends with Shodaime and together they took up the responsibility to protect the Konoha village they established. Madara founded the first police force in the Konoha and swore to protect his people with his life.
But good things do not last long. As Madara was about to reach his adulthood, Sojobo began to reveal his true intention. Sojobo didn’t marry the girl from Hyuuga out of love. He was only looking for a perfect body, a container (probably to achieve greater powers), and he figured the best way was to create one with his own blood. He was planning on taking over Madara’s body once he reached his adulthood. It didn’t take Uchiha Madara long to find out this appalling truth. He felt a mixture of shock and anger. He felt he was being used but he wasn’t going to give in such easily, at least not without a fight. But Madara knew only too well that no matter how strong he was he stood no chance against the King of Tengu. Out of desperation he sought for the legendary Bijuu—Kyuubi (the God of Fire).
Kyuubi was very impressed by Madara’s abilities. A secret pact was made and Kyuubi agreed to lend his power and chakra to Uchiha Madara. Soon Madara mastered the katon and he could even cast a dark fire that would burn for 7 days and 7 nights after performing the Amaterasu. But even with these newly gained powers and a huge supply of chakra from the Kyuubi, Uchiha Madara was only able to beat his demon father by a hair’s breadth. He couldn’t finish him once and for all but only managed to seal him up. However, the seal he used was a very special one. To break the seal it requires the Kyuubi’s chakra and also not one but 3 Uchiha members who can wield the Mangekyou Sharingan. Each MS user has to cast a different MS jutsu at the same time and when the 3 jutsus–Tsukiyomi, Amaterasu and Susanoo–combine, the great evil will be unleashed. It’s a tall order and Madara thought it would be enough to seal up the demon for eternity. But what Madara didn’t anticipate was that this seal itself would bring a bloody massacre upon his own clan many decades later…
Here I will derail a bit and talk about the relationship between Shodaime and Madara. When Shodai found out about the secret pact between Madara and Kyuubi he was enraged. He thought it was hunger for greater power that led his best friend to the Kyuubi. Madara didn’t explain to him either because he didn’t want anyone to know he was a half-demon. Conflicts began to appear between the two who were once close to each other. The intense hostility eventually resulted in a great battle at the Valley of the End. (You might think that I depicted Madara as too strong a character and therefore feel skeptical about Shodai being able to rival both MS and Kyuubi’s power at the same time. Well you better not forget that Shodai had the ability to suppress Kyuubi’s chakra and his darkness jutsu and suiton might be very good counter-moves to Madara’s Sharingan and katon respectively as well.)
Alright, now back to the main story. Many years had come into past since Sojobo was sealed. The tengu’s blood in Uchiha clan was now no longer as pure as it once was. It was gradually being “diluted” by constant marriages with non-Uchihas over the generations. Now even the Normal Sharingan was possessed by only the elite few among Uchihas, let alone the Mangekyou Sharingan. But the dark history of the clan was anything but forgotten. A tengu shrine was built underneath the Nakano temple by some of the early Uchihas to keep all the secrets of the clan inside (including killing your loved one to gain MS which was discovered by some later Uchiha). Once an Uchiha member was thought to be reliable enough he would be informed about the secret meeting place and it would then become his life-long obligation to keep these secrets from outsiders. The Uchihas considered this dark history as an unspeakable shame and swore to protect the glory and dignity of their clan with their lives no matter what happened.
20 years ago, a new member was born into an Uchiha family. He soon proved himself to be a prodigy, even by the high standards of the Uchiha. He graduated at the top of his class at age 7, mastered the Sharingan at 8, became a Chunin at 10 and an ANBU squad leader at 13. His name was Uchiha Itachi. As Itachi was selected to become an ANBU his father Fugaku felt that it was the right time to tell him everything. Itachi learned about the Mangekyou Sharingan and the origin of his clan from his father. Deep inside his mind, an evil shadow began to take shape…
One night, when all men of Uchiha were supposed to gather at the secret meeting place two of them were absent. Itachi lured his best friend Uchiha Shisui to the Nakano river and started his horrendous plan. He assaulted and killed Uchiha Shisui on that night and obtained the accursed eye powers—Mangekyou Sharingan from the death of his friend. The next day when people found Uchiha Shisui’s body they also found a suicide note grabbed in his hand. But of course this note wasn’t really written by Shisui. Itachi forged his handwriting with the Sharingan to make it look like a suicide. What was written on the note is important because it reflects Itachi’s feeling at that time.
From the moment Itachi heard about the origin of his clan he felt a weird sense of pleasure and superiority. He felt he was somehow more special than the others. Then his sick and twisted mind had gone even further. He wanted to set the tengu free. He was willing to sacrifice his body in exchange for probably the strongest power the world had ever seen. He was ready to offer his body to the Tengu King.
Soon Itachi had put his thoughts into action. When he learned about the Akatsuki’s plan to capture the Bijuus he decided to join them. He needed their help to get the Kyuubi’s chakra. But that’s not all. Itachi still had to find another 2 MS users. After awhile, he came across a second MS user who agreed to help him carry out his plan. Now all he needed was the third and last MS user.
Itachi knew his clan members would never kill their loved ones to get MS. He despised them. They were a bunch of cowards, useless …oh wait, Itachi suddenly came up with an idea—he could still use them to achieve his purpose. He could use them to make his little brother the third MS user…
On a full-moon night, the ancient blood inside Itachi finally awakened and he had completely lost his mind. He killed his entire clan including his parents. Then he waited for his little brother Sasuke to come home. He wanted him to know he was the one who did it. He used Tsukiyomi on his brother to make sure such a traumatic picture would stay with him for the rest of his life. He wanted Sasuke to hate him. He wanted Sasuke to hate him enough to kill his own friend and activate the Mangekyou Sharingan. He told him about the secret meeting place so that he would find out everything. He wanted Sasuke to take the path he had paved for him—the path of an avenger…

I suspect that the true akatsuki mastermind is Nagato. Yahiko=pain and konan is still konan. Yahiko probably died sometime ago but was brought back to life by nagato with his rin’negan and became pain. (Hey, i mean sounds possible right since all the other 5 bodies of pain were shinobis that Jiraya had fought b4?And Nagato would do anything to protect his friend or bring him back to life/undeath?) Nagato probably can see a lot of things from far far away with his eye. He probably resurrected Obito, Uchiha Madara and whoever he likes to serve as his pawns (Would love to see him resurrect naruto’s dad). Hmmm.. very interesting theory.. The thing is : if Uchiha Madara is still alive, he WOULD definitely NOT allow Itachi, Tobi or Sasuke or anyone with Sharingan to attempt to set free the TENGU (his daddy) that he tried so hard to shut away many decades ago. And Uchiha Madara is not such a badass after all, he was forced to make a pact with the kyubi in order to have the TENGU sealed up.
His battle with the 1st hokkage was due to a misunderstanding, he could not have wanted to destroy the village he once helped build ? Ok let’s say if he really wanted to destroy Konoha he would have done so as soon as the 1st hokkage passed away. It just doesn’t make sense he would wait for so many decades. Furthermore, nobody ever inherited the 1st hokkage’s jutsu that could bind the kyubi (Yeah i know u are thinking Yamato but makes no sense right?)

Tobi=Uchiha Madara; this has been stated multiple times in the manga by now. He is immortal because he mastered the ougi of the Sharingan, which grants immortality.
Tobi did not say that he was Uchiha Madara, only that his power was that of Madara’s power. If you actually pay attention to Nagato, his eyes were always covered and the only time we ever see his eye was when he uses his right Rin’negan eye. There is an undeniable resemblence between
Tobi and Nagato (only their right eyes r exposed) So i think the Rin’negan is so powerful that it could copy MS.
After all, Jiraya said the Rin’negan is the most powerful

That’s just your theory. There’s no proof that Rinengan can copy the MS. It’s simply the fact that Tobi is Uchiha Madara. As I said, if you translate it directly from Japanese, Tobi says, “The power of me, Uchiha Madara”. The other way is indirect.
Madara made a pact indeed with Kyuubi using the MS. Just open your minds people. Trace all the history of the Uchiha and all hidden messages from clan symbol to subtle drawings by Mr. Masashi were to imply that the Tengu was to be released. Madara was indeed an Immortal as Itachi have said in 385, in any way or another. Having him using the Rin’negan is still doubtful. The Rin’negan is not yet proven as the most powerful Doujutsu, so we still can’t speculate if Pein really is the leader. Madara orders Pain around to capture the Kyuubi (before the fight with Jiraiya), so it must be Madara who’s the leader. In any way, even if Pein leads, Madara is probably using Akatsuki to realize the Uchiha dream, by being proud of their Blood, Tengu and Hyuuga blood.
Just imagine an ending with all Konoha battling the Konoha Tengu. That may be a blockbuster.
Whereabouts about who Pein really is is not my dance. I’m just obsessed with the Uchiha and its Tengu origins. That’s all i can say. For now. ^^

And we can’t speculate yet on how Madara became immortal. His jutsu are not yet being revealed aside from the three MS jutsus. And about the Rin’negan, we still have to research and ask Mr. Masashi about its power because this doujutsu is just newly introduced to the series.
And for that one-holed mask of Tobi: Remember that using MS excessively could start blinding the eye, one first and then the other. That may explain why Tobi has that kind of mask. Madara’s eye is already blinded by MS use.

just a question im quite confuse, how come that TOBI is the leader of Akatsuki as from watching the Episode Tobi was not even on the part when they are extracting the Bijuu from Gaara, and Tobi was appeared only after Sasori dies?from what country did TOBI came from? what are the ordering from strongest to weakest=> Rinnegan, Byakungan and sharingan, correct me if i am wrong these three are the three great eyes right? If madara was the known oldest of sharingan, then who are from byakungan and rinnegan?
Uchiha Madara is the Leader?
I think there is 65% that the leader of Akatsuki was Uchiha Madara, according from manga the conversation of Sasuke and Itachi, Itachi says that level of Mangekyu sharingan of Madara can control the Nine-Tail fox, and madara was behind of that attack in Konoha, but unfortunately it was not success. because the fourth sealed it to Naruto’s body then the fourth dies according to the manga and episode.

The answer is maybe YES or maybe NO. after sealing the bijuu from naruto’s body they say that the fourth die, have the konoha people recover the body?how if the body that they recover was just only a kage bunshin?
my opinion
as from watching the episode while the akatsuki extracting the bijuu from gaara there was a misunderstanding from other members of akatsuki, then one of the leader says that they must concentrate from extracting and stop arguing from their co-member and on the screen the akatsuki member have the eye of rinegan, and from reading on the manga that pain has the eye of rinegan which is the student of Jiraiya.
Let’s think this through:
Madara Uchiha founded Akatsuki, that much we know. The sole purpose of Akatsuki seems to be gathering and extracting the bijou. Why does Madara want the bijou in the first place? Do they threaten his power? Is there some secret power that will be revealed if one gathers them all? We’ll probably have to wait to see because, in all likelyhood, Naruto will probably become the last one with a bijou and have a last stand against Madara Uchiha.
To expand further on that point, I don’t like how Naruto (let’s think of him as the kyuubi) is being turned into a sorta of “Uchiha Pet” if you will. Madara Uchiha harnessed the kyuubi using his sharingan, if he can do that to the kyuubi, there’s no hope for Naruto going full 9 tails on him UNLESS Naruto activates the rinnegan (chosen one, blah blah blah) because, if my memory serves me correctly, Jiraiya states Minato (4th Hokage) had the rinnegan and implies Naruto can activate it as well. Pein + 4th Hokage + Naruto related? I don’t know, they all have weird blond hair (just saying).
As for the identity of Madara I don’t think he’s Tobi, and Tobi certainly isn’t Obito. Tobi’s fighitng style including phasing through fatal blows, no doubt this is an aspect of his sharingan. Maybe Tobi is the brother of Madara, whose eyes were stolen but who was not necessarily killed. Think about it; hides his face, body. Tobi could have stolen the eyes of another Uchiha, I don’t know – we’ll have to find out. What I can say, though, is that Tobi is NOT Obito, simple as that (Obito wouldn’t be good enough for Akatsuki anyway). Tobi can’t be Madara Uchiha, either, because Madara FOUNDED Akatsuki, he wouldn’t need to join when a member dropped dead.
As for Madara’s identity, possibly he is an entity, a conscience, a ghost, a spirit, etc. Wouldn’t his body have…gone bad after all those years? Then again, thinkn about it; Tobi’s fighting style is that of a ghost, passing through fatal blows, perhaps that is the “immortality” of the sharingan, and possibly Tobi is simply another Uchiha who unlocked this secret by taking his brother’s eyes. Maybe Tobi is someone possessed by Madara (possibly Obito’s body? He still isn’t considered Obito!)? And judging by Itachi’s “outburst” of crazy with Sasuke, Tobi’s wacky personality seems to fit with the Uchihas.
This is simply constructed speculation. My prediction for Naruto Shippuuden future? Naruto Rinnegan 9 Tails (kept in control with Sasuke’s Sharingan got from stealing Itachi’s eyes?) and Sasuke Uber Sharingan vs. Madara Uchiha, possibly Pein, in the Valley of the End (where sasuke and naruto fought in Part 1 and where Madara lost to 1st hokage a while back)

This doesn’t necessarily mean that “The Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya” (that’s what it’s called) is relative to the folk stories of other characters.

Just one thing though, a theory is a theory. If it is proven, then it becomes fact. The Tengu theory is not yet proven, your theory is not yet proven too, so please stop calling it “garbage” because to think about it- your theory with Minato having the Rin’negan is unbelievable. In the story, it was Nagato, not Minato. READ UP, Shippuuden_Man. if it really was Minato, prove your point.

Maybe Madara’s immortality requires him to possess a body. For me, Tobi was the right medium because he is an Uchiha. It’s more honorable possessing an Uchiha body rather than form other shinobi. And what about Tobi being Obito? I don’t know. For my theory, when Obito died beneath that rock, Madara found his body and sealed himself within that body, therefore, making both of them as Tobi.

One thing that makes naruto superior above all other almost in the same genre anime is that story doesnt have to revolve around the main character at all times. Many fillers gets the other characters shine on screen, thus eliminating the monotony of a commonplace story..

ok a lot of this stuff you guys are saying but some of it is wrong too… ok before the hidden leaf village was established the senju and uchiha clans were the most powerful and feared warrior clans in the who ninja world… they soon became rivals because of the constant fighting with each other they had. the leader of the uchiha clan was madara uchiha. he and his younger brother were the first two uchiha’s to unlock the mongekyou sharingan. both mardara and his brother started going blind because from the day you unlock the mongekyou so much strain is put on you’re eyes you start going blind. to save his older brother madars younger brother WILLINGLY gave up his eyes granting madara the perfect momgekyou sharingan. some time later senju offered uchiha a peace offering. every uchiha execpt madara wanted peace. madara felt like his brother would have died for nothing if they agreed but he reluckantly agreed. then senju and uchiha became the village hidden in the leaves. the leader of the senju clan ( hashirama senju ) was chosen be the first hokage. madara tried to tell everybody that it was a bad idea for fear that uchiha would be mistreated and eventually overthrown. madara ask uchiha to help him challenge the leaf village but they said he was just power hungry and they shuned him. madara fought hashirama all by himself at the valley of end. he lost, fled the village and started akatskui. as a sign of trust the second hokage made the uchiha the military police force of konaha. the act of trust was actually to keep an eye on them. some years later the kyubi ( 9 tailed fox) attacked the village. everyone thought the uchiha was behind the attack because they were the only people who could control the kyubi even thought they weren’t behind it. after the uchiha were moved to the back corner of the village they finaly figured out that they were being watched. they soon started to plan a takeover. sasuke was kept in the dark about this because he was so young. the person beind the takeover was sasuke’s father.
ok. you guys should think whose the one with 1 eye in konoha,. root leader konoha..the one whose spying and want orochimaru dead. and dont forget. the one who got access to graves of dead uchiha,

Okay. This is cool. As a friend of one of the editors of the series Ima help ya’ll out.(dnt tell) Mandara is the leader. How? Because the anime and the comic have 2 different storylines. Mandara’s longevity comes 4rm sharigan jutsu which allows the user 2 actually retain the image of themselves. Now Tengu?? No u crazy ppl. The only way 2 have a Sharigan offspring is 2have A Byakugon user and a person without kekkai genkai fuck.Plain n simple. Neji even said it in the chunin exams. The Uchiha isa side branch of hyuga family. Da fourth is well dead Sorry I want 2c him kick somebodies ass2 cuz he was allegedly the ultimate ninja.Oh and Mandara n da fourth neva met.Thats about an 70year span so no.Da fourth died by assertn all his energy not by dat reaper jutsu. Da third said da fourth developed it not actually used it. The problem is things in naruto dnt make sense. Honestly, da fourth hokage should be alive if da u believe certain characters recollection. I mean if d fourth really did put dat seal on naruto then it would be da same as gaara and both MOTHERS should have died. Then Mandara Pien and the Hyuga. The uchiha split with the hyuga in a small civil war because of social differences. Neji explained dat in one episode when he wanted 2fight Sasuke at the exams. If dats the case then the wars b4 the nations were about kenkai genkai differences. Third and most forgetable. Naruto’s family is from da whirlpool village meaning that they were enemies inda war. Because of this Ive deduced that most of the jonins arent home born 4rm the village. So my guess is that da third Hokage hit the hammer on the head. History repeated itself. Mandara wants revenge 4not bein da Hokage. Orrochimaru did da same. Naruto n sasuke battled. And 4 what? 2b da best n 2b known?Sacrifice? Maybe both. I think thats da morale of naruto: History
i think that the leader guy in akatsuki that you never see is the fourth hokage and naruto`s dad think about it and look at a pic of both of em and you`ll see what i mean

I believe Madara is the true leader of Akatsuki so far. Pein is not the leader, he takes orders. Tobi is Madara, he said so. Kisame also reconizes Madara Uchiha as Mizukage. If you want to disprove me, you can’t. My evidence comes after chap 395 in the manga. onemanga.com
