I definitely think that Madara was telling the truth. The Uchihas were constantly torturing Naruto when he was a kid. The 3rd Hokage probably decided that the Uchihas were getting too powerful and sent Itachi to do the job. Itachi was probably telling the truth when he said Madara was his mentor. But thats my POV.

I don`t know why but I think that Madara was lying when he told Sasuke Itachi`s story … Maybe he wanted to turn Sasuke against Konoha which he succeeded.I presume a next fight between Naruto and Sasuke in Naruto Shippuuden.
